[English]

The present study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the representation of trauma and resilience in two novels—Washm al-Ṭā'ir (The Tattoo of the Bird) by Dunyā Mīkhā'īl and Dokhtar-e Shīnā (Shina's Daughter) by Behnaz Zarābīzādeh—and to identify the impact of differing cultural-historical contexts on the narrative style of women's war writing. This research is fundamental in terms of purpose and qualitative in method, employing a descriptive-analytical and comparative approach, with its theoretical framework grounded in the perspectives of three major trauma theorists: Cathy Caruth, Judith Herman, and Dominick LaCapra. Data were collected through library-based research, and components related to traumatic experience in the two works were identified and comparatively analyzed. The findings reveal that both novels represent war not merely as a historical event, but as an enduring experience embedded in the memory and identity of their female characters. In Washm al-Ṭā'ir, trauma manifests primarily in the form of captivity, organized sexual violence, and identity dissolution, with the protagonist's survival-oriented resilience remaining trapped in a cycle of reliving, due to the absence of social support. In Dokhtar-e Shīnā, by contrast, the psychological consequences of war are represented through chronic anxiety, grief, and familial responsibilities, and resilience, situated within a context of familial and cultural support, leads to the gradual reconstruction of identity. The findings reveal that differences in the nature of violence, the extent of access to social support, and cultural contexts give rise to distinct patterns of emotional repression, social isolation, and resilience in women's narrative.
