The application of religious heritage is one of the most prominent means of expressing a theocentric worldview. With profound insight, the poet extracts the elements of this heritage from their traditional framework and repositions them within the horizon of contemporary thought and collective concerns. The invocation of religious figures and the influence of the Qur’an constitute the fundamental components of this heritage; they endow the literary work with spiritual depth and enhance its expressive power.The emergence of a God-centered worldview through the features of religious heritage in poetry, as a means to interpret the poets’ lyrical experiences, led the researchers of this study to conduct an analytical-comparative examination of this heritage in the works of Ajwad Mujbil Khafaji and Mehdi Akhavan Sales. Both linked the depiction of the socio-political turmoil of their time to the creative use of religious heritage.The final outcome reveals that the theocentric worldview of these two freedom-seeking poets—shaped within the framework of religious heritage—demonstrates that their pursuit of freedom springs from a profound, conscious, and liberating faith. This faith transcends the boundaries of political and social protest, granting their struggle a spiritual and humanistic authenticity. Moreover, their indiret invocation of religious figures—known for their steadfastness against oppression and their commitment to justice—represents an effort to propose an ideal model and unveil the faces of corrupt powers. The influence of the Qur’an likewise serves as a powerful medium to portray the unfavorable conditions of their societies.
