According to Lakoff and Johnson's theory, visual metaphor arose in response to the traditional view of rhetoric, which saw metaphor as dependent on words rather than thought and mental activity. Visual metaphor is present in all areas of our daily life and is hidden in contemporary poetry as a mental process that constitutes visual systems in the poet's mind and reflects his life experience. Metaphor is one of the most prominent techniques of indirect expression based on imagination in the poetry of Al-Alaq and Manouchehr Atashi, and with its various schemas, it plays an active role in motivating and influencing the audience. This study, by adopting a descriptive-analytical method and relying on the American school of comparative literature, intends to proceed to the most important schemas of visual metaphor in the poetry of these two poets. The summary of the results of this research shows that these two poets usually turn to volumetric schemas to show their conceptual images of spaces with physical scale and pay special attention to the human body as the dish of their abstract concepts. The movement scheme in Alaq’s poetry has a characteristic of being inspired by the themes of the external environment, and in fiery poetry it is usually obtained over time. The schema of power in Alaq’s poetry is exposed to the domination of negative and deterrent forces on the poet's personal attitudes and is evident in fiery poetry with negative and positive forces and their domination of his personal and social positions.
