Ahmed Matar is a revolutionary Iraqi, contemporary poet and Nasrollah Mardani is one of the famous Iranian contemporary poet and writer. According to the shocking and disorienting conditions of the society; they clarified the grief of the people in their poems, Matar, in a polite manner, has been able to reveal the bitter truths of his time, unlike Mardani, who uses his poetry against the government and he helps to stimulate the sense of the people’s opposition toward the bad situation. Mardani by his innovations have also been able to open up new horizons for the poets of the Islamic Revolution and the Holy Defense, and his poems of stability are of interest to everyone. The present research aims to review both poets’ sad poems in their Diwans based on American style of comparative literature. In this research, the authors have attempted to examine the concept of sadness in the poems of Matar and Mardani who depict the bloody and devastating face of the two poet’s nations in the midst of the war and invasion of the invaders. The results of the research indicate that these two poets succeeded in describing the sadness and the grief resulting from being oppressed by their fierce enemies, and they well clarify the image of their oppressed people against the aggressors. In the final section of this research, the authors have tried to analyze and compare the similarities and differences between both poets’ poignant poems.

Romanticism is a literary movement which began in the late eighteenth century in England. This school has changed in the Arabic lands after the disaster of Palestine and in the Iran in the early period of constitutional revolution, and progressively shifted from individualistic status to being community-orianted and took a more revolutionary form. In the Arab Lands, Egypt, as the first country that hosted this movement, was the cradle of poets of and literalists who were affected by this new wave. Among the poets who have stepped in this field of art, is Hilmi Salem; his Romanticism alongside his romantic and individual qualities, are more social and political oriented. On the other hand, this approach, along with Arabic countries, also became very common among the poets of Iran. Aref Qazvini is among those poets who were evidently influenced by the community-oriented romanticism. This research tries to, with a descriptive-analytical approach and after briefly highlighting these two poets’ lives, introduce and analyze some elements of community-oriented romanticism in their poetry. The obtained results indicate that among elements of community-oriented romanticism in their work, the following can be pointed out: nationalist sentiment, nostalgia for the glorious days of the past, social disorders and vices, and etc. Salem’s Romanticism is more political and he often uses symbolic and implicit language; while Aref’s romanticism is more revolutionary and, by using an explicit and folk language, he makes his poems understandable for everyone.

The present research examines the application of themes and images as an effective methodology in comparative literature. Although, on the surface, this strategy seems, to some extent, outdated in comparative literature, we claim that by the evaluation of these literary features we reach a complex group of internally-linked meanings from which robust accounts of function and value can emerge that can set the tone for a comparative study in literature. This thematic approach to literature finds its true expression when it is compared with its immediate cultural context, which can provide, for the attentive reader, rich sources of meaning. This can engage us in a wider debate on method and scope of comparative literature, and can help us answer questions like, what is the overall aim of a comparative literary research? What is the subject matter and how should we choose our methodology for comparison? And eventually, how do the results of our analysis broaden the horizons for future comparative interpretations? Responding to such fundamental questions enables us to follow shared sets of principles specifically when it comes to wider cultural matters. This all, as we intend to demonstrate, can be made possible when we employ themes and images as creative means to achieve greater literary and cultural ends.

Recognizing the origin, or the genealogy, of the anecdotes, thoughts and literary or linguistic themes which were used by the poets and writers is one of the important branches observed in the literary or linguistic analysis of the works of art. The importance of such a thing is especially revealed when the morals of a piece of work is translated into another. An optimal translation not only makes possible the presence of a work among other nations and cultures, but also makes its inter-textual effects permanent. The present article is to clearly compare and contrast two texts, i.e., the Arabic text of the thousand-and-one nights and Ghazali's Arabic translation entitled Attebr-olMasbook fi Nasihat al-Muluk. This comparison proves that Attebr-olMasbook is the main origin of five anecdotes of the thousand-and-one nights. Despite the availability of a various number of Arabic translations which in a way contain in themselves different versions of these anecdotes, it could be asserted that the authors and compilers of the thousand-and-one nights have certainly observed and used this book as their main source text. Extractions done in these anecdotes reveal that one of the stories is thematically applied in the thousand-and-one nights, while the other four anecdotes have taken the syntactic or philological form, and even the Arabic style of the source text. The size of the anecdotes in the two books are approximately the same, which shows in spite of the availability of many other texts, the compliers have preferred to use Attebr-olMasbook as their source text.

One of the obvious characteristics of realist writer’s works is dealing with the native elements in the ways that after reading them a reader faces with a large number of ecological and regional features which make him more and more familiar with geographical, cultural, economic and political characteristics of the time and place in which the story happens. Najib Mahfuz and Ahmad Mahmoud are two Egyptian and Iranian famous realist writers who could well manage to reflect the ecological and regional elements in their works and it can be said that this characteristics is more displayed in Palace Walk and A Tale of a City. This common aspect between two novels is the subject of the present paper. The present paper sets to describe the regionalism and the elements that make a literary text a regional text before analyzing these elements in two above mentioned novels and also the existing similarities and differences are explained. The most important results indicate that the nature and application of local words in both novels are the most evident in the Mahmoud's novel in the names of individuals and their culture and traditions, and in Mahfuz’s novel, the most used reigonalism in the names of places Mosque and school.The method of this research is descriptive-analytic and the examples have been extracted, they are subjected to analysis.

Dramatic dialogue is an essential and undeniable element of the performing arts in which other performative elements are represented. Determining the type of characters, the dramatic functions and actions get their meaning from dramatic conversations. In other words, a play depicts the individuals’ moods and to represent the characters by language more than to show them. The three plays of the Chairs, the Corner and Ya Tale’o-Alshajara (O, the Tree of Luck), written by Eugene Ionesco, Gholam Hossein Saeedi, and Tawfiq al-Hakim, respectively, are among the rich and perdurable works of absurdist theater in which the highest theatrical techniques, especially discourse, have been implemented. In a descriptive study, the present author tries to compare the linguistic approaches and dramatic discourses, with an eye to the concepts of the absurdist theater. The final analysis showed that all these three playwrights had in common the use of semantic and linguistic domains of dramatic discourse. Although the linguistic similarities of the Corner by Saeedi and the Chairs by Ionesco are more evident than O, the tree of Luck by Tawfiq al-Hakim.
