Abstract
Balance means access to familiar words, phrases and grammatical patterns of the target language against the elements of the source text. One of the problems that occur in the translation process is the inadequacy of the grammatical and lexical structures of the target language compared to the source language. Where it needs to be replaced or modified. From this point of view, equivalence is undoubtedly one of the most controversial topics in the art of translation, and a large part of translation studies is dedicated to this topic. In this regard, Catford presented a special theory of translation, which was a continuation of the theories of translation and linguistics of Firth and Halliday. It came to the conclusion that the balance of the original text with the translated text, while considering the division of languages in the two levels of vocabulary and structure, depends on the degree of convergence and formal agreement between language vocabulary, therefore, considering the importance of this issue, Based on the formal changes of Catford (1965) as the theoretical framework of this research, we linguistically examined six quatrains of Khayyam's quatrains in a completely random form in the Arabic translation of Mustafa Wahbi Al-Tal. Catford uses five types of transitions and changes in level and category, which sometimes overlap.
