Abstract

Lucien Goldman's (1913-1970) formative structuralism theory, with a sociological view of literary texts, seeks to establish a meaningful relationship between the literary work and the social aspects influencing in its creation. The novels Nakhlhaye Bi Sar and Saa”t Baghdad are two Persian and Arabic novels in the field of war literature, which focus on the description of the war-torn society of "Iran" during the eight years of holy defense and the many problems of the society of "Iraq" during its siege by America in year (1991A.D), so the present research tried to use descriptive-analytical method and based on the theory of "Lucien Goldman's" formative structuralism. It has analyzed the mentioned novels by relying on social components such as: general fear and panic, evacuation of the city, injuries of women and children, opportunism and looting. The results of the research showed that in both novels, the authors depicted the atmosphere caused by the war and its effects on the society, but this imagery has a higher frequency in the novel Nakhlhaye Bi Sar compared to Saa”t Baghdad; in this work, the author advances the story based on a single theme. While in the novel Saa”t Baghdad, the author chooses a variety of topics and by paying multifaceted attention to the story, makes it out of the pure narrative of war. The intuitive and personal experience of the author of the novel Nakhlhaye Bi Sar compared to the author of Saa”t Baghdad causes the audience to identify more with the story creations.
